Researchers from HKUMed have found that extending Hong Kong’s statutory paid maternity leave led to a significant improvement in maternal mental health. The findings have significant implications at a time when birth rates worldwide are falling and labour force shortages are a significant problem.

Five HKU Scholars Ranked First in Asia by Discipline by Research.com
Twelve HKU distinguished scholars have been named by the international academic website Research.com among the top 100 scholars globally in their respective disciplines in 2025. Among them, five professors have been ranked first in Asia in their disciplines.
